Crock pot baked potatoes, one of my favorite things!

I don’t know where I originally saw this, I have seen it in multiple places on the web, but it is such an awesome idea that I just have to post it here.

This is one of my biggest time saving tips.  I love making meal time easy and this most certainly fits the bill.

Crock Pot Baked Potatoes

Yes, that is two crock pots full of potatoes.  Why?  I am so glad you asked!

I made baked potatoes for Baked Potato Bar for dinner, and I needed left over baked potatoes to make hash browns, twice baked potatoes, or potato skins.

For Baked Potato Bar, we put out steamed broccoli, cheese sauce, bacon bits, sour cream, butter, shredded cheese, etc.  Everyone chooses their own toppings and everyone is happy!  Score!  Fast and easy dinner.

I use the hash browns for, well, hash browns and for cheesy hash browns baked in the oven.   They are amazing!   I used a mixture of russet and golden potatoes this time; you can use any type you like.

By baking the potatoes in my crock pot, it keeps the kitchen cooler then baking them in the oven, I can bake a bunch at one time for left overs, and it’s super fast!

This is so incredibly easy, you won’t believe it.

Wash the potatoes.  Place them in the crock pot while they are still wet from washing.  This will add just a little moisture to them.  Place lid on the crock pot and turn on low for 6-8 or high for 3-4 hours.  I personally think they are much better when they are cooked on low all day long.

That’s it!  No poking them.  Just wash and put in the slow cooker.  So easy!  And there are more ways to use baked potatoes then you can shake a stick at.

What is your favorite way to use baked potatoes?

  1. Love this idea! I tried it tonight for dinner and it worked well. We had fairly large potatoes and they were in the crockpot for 12 hours and weren’t overdone at all! Great idea!
